LAYOUT

I'm very proud to say that I took that picture. In fact, that pencil is resting on a page of Linden! How exciting.  Edited in Micrografx Picture Publisher. Website designed using NetObjectsFusion.

ME

I'm a creative writing major set to graduate in 2010.  Within a few years, hopefully I'll be working at a publishing company, but I am also considering grad school.

My favorite book is The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman.

My favorite places are Schloss Neuschwannstein in Germany and Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Welcome. I'm Elizabeth, although online I go by Callioope, and I have gone by Fiona-chan (FanFiction.Net and FictionAlley). 'Any Whimsy' is my little piece of cyberspace.  For now, I think of it as my 'base'.  For the future? I plan to post some of my writing. Any Whimsy will house my current novel-in-progress fractured fairy tale 'Linden', which finds inspiration from Little Red Riding Hood and a dream I had, as well as other short stories or projects.

Updates and Ramblings and News, Oh My!

Yay, finally updated! Updated Classes section. Also CeltX is no longer allowing users to post their scripts online, so I had to fix those links. I'm thinking about what I'm going to do now, how I'm going to show them.

Where I've Been

So, my laptop, which I have had since December 2006, has not been functioning extremely well. Last December, I received a netbook for Christmas to replace the laptop for frequent use. Unfortunately I have not gotten around to installing NetObjects Fusion (which I use to edit this website).

Therefore, I have not been able to update. My last semester has been very busy and I haven't have much free time to update. However, I intend to update towards the end of this week.

I posted images of my ceramics projects a few days ago, but I forgot to update the main page about it. The link is here: Ceramics. It should be accessible under Classes.

Posted five stories that I wrote for my Genre Fiction Writing class:

Currently Working On... two final projects: 6-8 page story for my Reading as Writers class and an "experiential" story for my Travel Writing class (2000-2500 words)

Projects I've Made: Updates

Linked three scripts to their pages on the Celtx "Project Central" website. I wrote these two years ago, for my Screenwriting I class. (Celtx is a program that easily allows you to write screenplays, theatre scripts, and more! Much easier than using word, and it also provides you with tools to create character profiles, storyboards, filming schedules and calendars, and much more! Definitely a great asset.)

Well, here it is! The new Any Whimsy, now hosted at elizabethfrey.us (rpg.asdc.net will also still work). New updates include many new sections: About, Classes, Travels, and Projects.

  • "Classes" includes information about what classes I've taken and, for the future, that page will include descriptions about what we did in those courses and what I took away from them.
  • "Travels" will include writings about my various travels, including Lima, Edinburgh, and Munich, along with various other places I've traveled.
  • "Projects," which is still under some construction, will include short stories, information about the short films I've worked on with my friends, and excerpts from longer works, including information about my novel in progress, Linden.

Currently working on... FDU insider's guide to prospective students and incoming freshmen: places of note in the area that have been used in movies! This is a 1000-1500 word assignment for my Travel Writing Class.

I won't be able to publish the changes until tomorrow, but expect them to be coming soon!

Okay, I'm in England at the moment. I can't access fanfiction.net or log in or anything. Also having trouble with my yahoo account. So, I know this is late, but I only just realized that this may be a way of contacting people that I need to contact.

Sorry that I haven't written anything sooner. I know there is a girl I told I would beta her story, and then I got to England and couldn't get to it and didn't have any means of contacting her. Hopefully... she is reading this... though I doubt it. :/ In retrospect I probably should have warned her that I'd be going to England, but I didn't think I wouldn't be able to access yahoo or fanfiction.net...

Anyways. Yes. I'm in the middle of the countryside in an abbey. Yes, it's fantastic, gorgeous, wonderful. But the internet sucks.

So, Figurehead Kiss is gone. Yep. Officially closed January 16, 2007. It was quite a sad affair, in the fact that the only people signing up to join weren't actually people, but spam bots. That's a sign of inactivity, I suppose. So I decided to get rid of it. In any case, maintaining it was becoming somewhat of a drag. It's kind of a silly concept. And to think that even after all of that, I was thinking the other day, wouldn't it be great to run a Paradise Lost FL? But no, it really wouldn't be.

Yeah, so, about posting Linden...

total lie.

Heh. Oops. Rather, I decided against it and just never got around to posting that little decision on here.

Linden debuts on Friday.

Be excited.

(And unfortunately, no, I don't mean it gets published. Ha! I just mean my website for it is going up. Yay.)

I'm also signing these with my real name now. Because ... 'Fiona chan' is a stupid penname.

Like, omg! A new layout. I like that I took that picture myself. That makes me happy. I totally need my own camera now. Because my sister and I share that camera. So you'll notice I moved my fanlistings to a separate page. That needed to be done. The list was getting long, and, well, that column is just two narrow. Plus (this is the main reason) NetObjects was being demonic with automatic formatting and whatnot so I got pissed and made up my own answer. :D

Oh my god! She still exists! Yes, I'm updating.

So, I gave up the Kate Brewster fanlisting because, well, it was never really getting many new members, so I'd always forget to update it. And because my interest in the Terminator series has, sadly, dissipated a great deal. And I finally updated Figurehead Kiss. Oh, I saw the Old Kingdom series in the science fiction section at Walden Books yesterday, which made me immensely happy because I think there are parts which are not so great for children, and usually it's in the young adult section, which makes it look more juvenile than it is.

And I'm back! I seem to have disappeared from the net for quite awhile (first, due to exams, and then due to a lazy-mode I like to call 'recovery'). Just made the 'rounds', checked Kate and Sabriel/Touchstone FLs, then joined 2 new Harry Potter ones. Amazing how few HP FLs I've joined... it's just odd, given that if it wasn't for Harry Potter, I wouldn't've even discovered fanlistings when I did.

Joined NINE new fanlistings in one morning. That's three rows on my FL list. Wow. Star Wars wins the record... (Yes, they're all Star Wars FL). The even scarier thing is, there were more I wanted to join, but I don't like having empty spaces in the rows - has to have 3 in each.

Though I am thinking I need to re-organize all the FLs, 'cause the list is getting so long.

Sabriel&Touchstone FL WILL be updated later today!

Am updating Figurehead Kiss, so if you signed up to join, sorry for the delay. There are currently 2 members pending; I will add them when the new layout is published to the web. Sorry for the wait!

Cheers! Here's to love!

Joined three FLs again... Here's To Love (song at the end of Down With Love), Catcher & Barbara relationship (Down With Love) and Moulin Rouge.

I go in threes so that I'll always have a nice even row alignment.

Joined three fanlistings for Gundam Wing. :) Yay Gundam Wing... my sister and I were having fun rereading our old favorite GW fics. ::sniff:: Back in the ol' days...

Definitely liking the red/orange font color over the bluey-gray one.

Need to maintain FLs better... D'oh. Also need to join some new ones... but alas, am too lazy. Forsooth. Well, I will as soon as I stop procrastinating and start my homework.

HDM totally rocks.

Saw Constantine last night. Only one nightmare that I remembered! Just a random ghost face type thing rushing at me. I actually woke up screaming though. It was spooky.
